Patients’ Rights & Responsibilities
Comments, suggestions or complaints
We want to provide the best possible service to our patients. We want to hear your views, where you like the service or where things could be better. Please speak to the receptionists, or ask to speak to the practice manager or his assistant. Should you have a complaint this should be presented in writing and it will be dealt with under the NHS complaints procedure which requires us to acknowledge it within 2 days and a full response sent within 10 working days. A leaflet is available from the reception desk to assist you with any complaint you may have about health services in Croydon.
Access to Medical Records
In general patients have the right to information about their health from any practitioner who is treating them under the Data Protection Act 1998. Applications must be in writing with the appropriate fee and the practice has 40 days in which to provide the requested information. In certain circumstances the Act allows the practitioner to withhold access to patient health records.
Violent & Abusive patients
Our staff will do their best to assist patients at all times. A surgery can be a busy and hectic workplace on occasions. We will not accept violence and abusive behaviour towards our staff and other persons on the practice premises. Such behaviour may lead to you being asked to leave the premises and removal from our practice list.
Freedom of Information Act 2000
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities- which includes GP practices. The practice has registered the required information with the Information Commissioner
